"Voices To Be Heard" (Miami / Ft Lauderdale)

Though countless people have unjustly died at the hands of police and racist civilians, it was the death of George Floyd that rocked the nation and reverberated globally. Since the protests began in May of 2020, names like Breonna Taylor and Elijah McClain have surfaced on social media and made their way onto protest signs, adding to the already devastatingly long list of those who are gone too soon, and gone without justice.

This photo journal entry is a representation of the protests in Miami-Dade and Broward County, Florida. Protesters against police brutality and racial injustice occupy the streets in South Florida, shouting a phrase that just a few years ago was considered too controversial: Black Lives Matter.

"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
- James Baldwin
