This is a hook line for those who both want space for storage through hanging, but also want something more aesthetically pretty, than some metal hooks on a wall.
Date:
March 2020
When I decided to design a hook line, I researched  on similar products that were already on the market.

These were my focal points for further work:
- Who is the user
- What needs should the product cover
- Where to use the product
- What is the user's need and desires for such a product
- Look at today's interior image: Colors and shape

I did a survey to find out more about what any user had of desires to a hook line. It turned out that both the aesthetic and the practicality were important points to focus on in the new design.
Here are the first ideas I sketched down in the sketchbook, with some thoughts that I noted down during the process. (in Norwegian)
I made several suggestions on the shape of the hook, where I worked with various geometric shapes to create a clean and simple expression. I wrote down positive and negative aspects of several of the proposals.
I also experimented with a more organic and moving design on the pole behind the front.
I want to make the back plate in an old wood material. By using a material that brings a story, you awaken the customer's feelings and they feel like buying the product. In addition, many customers are prositive to the reuse of material and one helps to do something good for the environment.
The hook itself is cast in acrylic composite, which is a strong material, while being easy to cast in the desired shape. You can reuse the mold several times, so it is easy to produce many identical parts.

The choice of colors on the cover material in the acrylic composite, is based on what will create connection and contrast to the back plate in reused wood material. The warm colors take up the warm undertone of the back plate, while contrasting with the use of the colder tones that make the composition more vivid. The back plate may have a greyish undertone that can also be picked up in the colder blue.
The final solution, is a simple form in which the hook is composed of a circle and a staggered square that is repeated twice by either putting on or removing material from the circle. All corners and pointed edges have been given a rounding, which both improves the user's view of quality and experience of the product, and the practicality, which reduces the chance of destruction in the breakpoints.
Here you can see how the hook line should be mounted on the wall, and exploded view of the entire construction.
I made a simple packaging, with only the most necessary information about the product. In the box comes a small brochure with the remaining information on materials and some of the history of the product, as well as screws for hanging.
The hook line is suitable for all kinds of use, and especially for those who want a source of storage and a small work of art on the wall. You can hang bags and scarves on the pole that is behind, or you can also hang some hangers there, in addition to hanging many jackets on the two hooks in front. It is a fairly small hook line, which does not stick too much out of the wall, while at the same time it has plenty of space.

This is a hook line for those who both want space for storage through hanging, but also want a slightly more aesthetically pretty, than some metal hooks on a wall.
