A Day in Rotterdam
Rotterdam is the 2nd largest city in the Netherlands. It is a beautiful multicultural city with a rich history. It houses the largest port in Europe, the rivers Maas and Rhine offer excellent waterway access into the core of Western Europe. The architectural landscape is especially beautiful and different from any other Dutch city. With its vast skyline, Rotterdam is also known as The Architectural Capital of the Netherlands. Largely contributed by world-renown architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Piet Blom, and Ben van Berkel.

Rotterdam is a must-visit place for anyone visiting the Netherlands. Even having been to Rotterdam multiple times, it never fails to give me something new. I hope that it can deliver the same feeling to you.

Rotterdam Terraced Houses
Rotterdam Terraced Houses

My favorite spot that I visited in Rotterdam. The Rotterdam Terraced Houses are located in between the Erasmus Bridge and the Willems Bridge at the Europort. The environment on the platform where I took the picture had a very relaxing and calm ambiance. Students on the grass, enjoying their afternoon snacks. Local tourists taking pictures. The experience of taking a walk there and taking pictures was very enjoyable.

It is but a 20-minute walk from the Inner City. A place you will enjoy during your visit to Rotterdam, even more, when it is at night.

Cube Houses

In the early 1980s, these Cube Houses were built. They were designed by the Dutch architect Piet Blom. A world-famous piece of architecture attracting people all over the world. It is one of the most unique buildings in the entirety of the Netherlands. Piet Blom doesn't shy away from unusual shapes when he designs, which is why his buildings are very eye-catching.

Right next to the Cube Houses you can find the Blaaktoren, which was designed by Piet Blom as well. It is a large apartment complex in the form of a pencil, which is often the name people refer to as well. Personally, I really love how this building looks, it has a comical essence to it.

Rotterdam White House

The Witte Huis is a National Heritage site in Rotterdam and listed as a Rijksmonument. It was designed by Willem Molenbroek and built-in 1898, in a style called the Art Nouveau. It was one of the very few buildings that survived World War II.

It is a beautiful spot to relax and have a drink at the cafe across the White House. It is walking distance from the Cube House attraction as well.
