AFRO-PUNK INSPIRED JACKET
This was my first project as a fashion design student. We had to make a denim jacket that revolved around a theme and play around with illustration and embroidery to decorate the jacket. I decided that the concept of my Jacket would be "Afro-Punk", inspired by the Afro-Punk festival and Afro-Futurism. I decided to illustrate a photograph I saw on pinterest and add some of my own accessories to it. I decided to add sunglasses with the words "KE TENG", which means " I am here" in Sesotho - which kind of alludes to one announcing their presence. I then also added a Sotho straw hat to the picture to further add on to the cultural aspect of my concept.
