Living space ergonomics - creating an intuitive and relaxing experience.
Goal

Design a boat for leisure, summertime activities that allow up to eight people to comfortaby spend multiple days and nights on board. The core goal was to achieve a streamlined, comfort-oriented user experience with a great amount of adaptability.
Research

The boat’s asymmetrical layout was determined by testing the best possible movement routes on the predetermined 3×8m deck space.

The aesthetics are defined by the boat’s leisure purpose as well as the need to increase legibility and feeling of safety for less adept users.
Layout

The deck is organized into zones, so that the crew can work, socialize or spend time alone without colliding.
Adaptability

Open, adaptable space supports various activities and ease of movement. Front couch features a movable backrest that can face both ways. Its user can spend time with the rest of the seated crew or face away from them. Foldable seats reveal even more open space when not in use.
Configurability

Modular, three part canvas roof provides sun and rain protection in individual areas. Passengers using the table can enjoy a shade cast by the modular roof, while passengers at the front sunbathe.
Movement

The pathway on the boat’s right side allows for easy movement during day and night, regardless of the number of passengers.
At night, existing furniture and foldable beds allow up to eight crew members to sleep, while maintaining easy access to exits and bathroom.
Water Access

Foldable door allows the crew to enjoy water activities when stationary and back ups as a ladder to climb back up.
Practicality

The kitchen area layout is based around enabling two people to easily work at the same time. A sunroof provides necessary illumination. Clean water containers are located below the deck.
The bathroom faces away from the deck to increase privacy. Motor access area has been clearly, visually separated.
