When in Pompeii
Pompeii is a roman town in the region of Campania. It stayed completely buried since the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE.
The town was rediscovered in the 19th/20th century. It was in an excellent state of preservation and some scholars even claim that it could be considered one of the richest archaeological sites in the world in terms of the sheer volume of data available to scholars.
During my trip to Italy, I couldn’t resist going there. As an architect and photographer, I am very interested in urban decay documentation which in that case provoked my interest in documenting the Ruins of Pompeii in the spirit of studying the urban space. This is part of my photo series that I created there and I hope you enjoy it !
