Fundraiser for Japan

Fundraiser for Japan

On March 11th, a tsunami and earthquake hit Japan. My friends and I planned a fundraiser for Japan in the school. I designed a poster to announce this event. The poster design is simple to catch everyone’s attention. The symbol in the middle is the Japanese national flag that is called “Hinomaru,” which means rising sun and I placed an origami crane figure on it. Japanese have a custom of sending origami cranes to people who are ill or injured as a prayer for recovery. Also, the crane is symbolic of happiness and long life in Japan. In addition, I designed and sold two hundred T-shirts for the fundraiser. I used the same symbols as I used on the posters. I used sending an origami crane with the rising sun in the sky of Japan to symbolize hope for people in Japan with people in Kilgore, Texas, praying for them.
