In the 1940s women’s fashion was about creating an hourglass silhouette with masculine details: padded shoulders, nipped-in high waist tops, and A-line skirts that came down to the knee. This was the everyday shape for clothing, from suits to dresses. On the other hand, Men's suits were the statement piece of the time and it was an everyday wear for the. Suits were worn whether they were going to an office job, to church, or out to dinner. Therefore, I decided to combine these 40's trends captured in photographs with 2020 fashion designs in order to show the contrast between the two separate periods.
