Cars, machines that keep our hearts racing.
We participate in car rallies, eagerly wait for the upcoming Auto Expo.
And if given a chance, Anyone would love to visit a car plant
to see a Body in White transform into a beautiful four wheeled machine.

But have you ever seen a Charred Car?

Yes, Somewhere in the corner of a street or in a Newspaper Frontpage,
Whenever cars are burnt in a riot due to political tension or a protest.
For this year, even I belong to the latter case.

In fact, about 170 cars went up in flames during the Delhi riots in Jan 2020.
And burning cars has been a symbol of unrest, during protests against the police in the George Floyd case (May 2020)

Albeit there are several reasons that are attributed to car fires,
whether its fuel system leak, electric system failure etc... and the safety precautions that are to be followed by everyone in order to avoid such accidents, But that's all an article for some other day.

Here with this photo project, I would like you to peek at the remains of a burnt car.

But before u see the images right here, one question would surely ponder you by now.

Why on earth would someone shoot charred cars? A subject that is too trivial.

With me being a Photoholic, it was the usual finding of details in the everyday things.

But what kept me going was, these charred or abandoned cars are not documented elsewhere.

And in this process, I did find something interesting which u will know once u scroll past these images.

Seen here are images of a burnt MPV Chevrolet Enjoy and a Sedan Tata Indica eCS.
The tangerine color of this burnt MPV clearly indicates that the fire incident has taken place not anytime before two years, On Verifying with the people at the garage, it turned out that the car was burnt in a road accident in 2017
and was then towed here.
Unlike the Charred Chevrolet Enjoy which has a tangerine color, This Burnt Tata Indica EVS has Umber Color which tells that this vehicle was burnt quite a time ago.
And the rust (Iron oxides) over the time have brought the natural dark brown color.
Well there are several things that might catch your attention while you look at the above images, One of which I have observed while working on these images is as follows.

If you look keenly at the two images below, you see these "thread" like remains on the burnt Cam Sprocket and the Wheel.
While I was technically inept to find the reason for the same.
Upon reaching out to Rohit Paradkar at Overdrive.

It was found that both the components i.e. the Cam Belt and the Wheel Tyres use rayon, steel or artificial fibre cords which are not as susceptible to fire and heat like rubber and the threads seen in the images are the remains of these cords.
To conclude, that's one thing I have found out with this project.
And I would definitely be thrilled to know more insights over this. Kindly share with me if you have any.
