Motion Graphics: Design Thinking Process

This project was done as a class task to understand the concepts of Motion Graphics.
The brief of the project was to create an engaging 15 seconds infographic explainer video on Design Thinking using only shapes, colors, text and audio.
To design this I followed the Design thinking process.
Design Thinking Process
Empathize:
Create a 15 seconds infographic explainer video on Design Thinking
The Five Stages of Design Thinking:

Stage 1: Empathize—Research Your Users' Needs.
Stage 2: Define—Gather, Observe, Understand, and create a point of view.
Stage 3: Ideate—Challenge Assumptions and Create Ideas.
Stage 4: Prototype—Start to Create Solutions.
Stage 5: Test—Try Your Solutions Out.

Define: Create an engaging 15 seconds infographic explainer video on the Design Thinking process using only shapes, colors, text, and audio which easily conveys the different steps involved in this process to the target audience.
Ideate: I began ideating by making a mindmap where I researched the different stages of design thinking and their definitions followed by a storyboard to define each scene to decide upon the flow of the video along with a mood board to collect the illustrations that I was going to use in the video.

Once the storyboard was created I downloaded the illustrations from Undraw.com and modified them according to my needs with the help of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. The next step was to create the animation using the timeline feature in Adobe Photoshop.
Here is the final video that I was able to come up with.

Here are some mockups with the design.
By doing this project I was able to learn about the concepts of Motion graphics and how to use the given time efficiently to mention all the necessary details in the video because I had 7 scenes to be shown in 15 secs, which was quite a task. I was able to learn the 12 principles of animation while doing this project that helped me a lot in creating the animations. Along with this, I learned about video compression and the usage of compression tools like Handbrake. And many more technical concepts like different dimensions of videos in SD, HD, and UHD where I learned terms like pillar-box, letterbox, resolutions and, aspect ratio.
