Sight & Sound Conceptual Ad

Conceptual Advertisement: Sight & Sound
By Laurel Stiekes

For this project, I chose to create three conceptual ads for the company Sight & Sound featuring their production of the story of Esther.  Sight & Sound is the largest Christian  theater in the U.S. and has produced plays such as: The story of Noah, Jonah, Samson, Moses, and Jesus.  The reason I chose to do my conceptual ad on the story of Esther is because that is the Bible story currently being showcased at the Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  My main goal for this ad was to present three pivotal moments in Esther's story that would make the viewer think deeper into what the concept is trying to portray.

The first poster, to the left, features a pair of hands holding a crown.  The question that this poster is trying to evoke is who truly chose Esther to become queen.  Was it King Xerxes because he thought that Esther was the most beautiful woman in the land? Or was is God because He knew Esther would one day need to be in a powerful position to save the Jewish people?

The second poster illustrates Esther in the shadow of a queen chess piece.  This poster is trying to convey the message that God placed Esther as queen because He was thinking several moves in advance. Esther's story also represents a chess match in the sense that she knew when to bide her time and she knew when to make her big moves to ultimately win the game.

Finally, the third poster showcases the moment Esther approached King Xerxes without being summoned. She had to do this to ensure that her people would be saved.  The only way to approach the king without being summoned and live to tell about it, is only if the king extends his scepter toward the person which is being shown in the the poster as the king grants Esther his favor.
