designing a palentology research center in whale valley in ALFayoun oasis as it is considered as heritage area for whale skeletons in 2005 and accordingly it is designated a  world heritage area 

the importance of the valley is due to the finding of complete skeletons of whales in the desert of the valley dating back 40 million years which confirms that the region on the date was a pat of an ocean that contains many aquatic organisms
