Ensemble refers to an orchestration of different elements together viewed as one. Every element of the ensemble unique in itself forms an important part of the group. The project is an ensemble of different elements of the landscape, urban design, and housing design integrated together in a balanced harmony.
The project is a proposed Olympic village for Milan 2026 Winter Olympics, to be reused for Student housing in 2030. The site is the abandoned old railway yard of P.ta Romana railway station, with one active railway line still operating. Located in the vicinity of the Porta Romana area, the zone is one of the oldest housing developments in Milan. The site flanks the edge of the old city, from where the road from the Roman Arch, The Porta Romana led to Rome. It served as an important junction for freight unloading at the Municipal Electricity Plant built in 1905, the old building of which still operated as offices of A2A Energia, and is located on the northern edge of the site. The region falls under the consideration of Milan 2030 Ecological network and urban green system. A holistic approach towards urban regeneration is applied to integrate the design with the urban
green context and surrounding morphological development. The project tries to meet the need for a public space that forms an important block of the urban and ecological network of the city. To form a space with a relationship with the existing urban open public squares. The strategy is to make green connections, to connect the existing ecological green areas with shady trees in the streets, and further the same approach to connect the site with the
South Agriculture park of Milan. Thus, to form a bridge between a matrix of planned green spaces in the city and natural agriculture park on the verge.
