I received an informal request from a company-contact to see what I could do to clean up this ambulance logo. I gladly took on the project, despite still learning Adobe Illustrator.

My initial task was to make the black outline around the logo thicker. There were a couple other minor things that I honestly don't remember now (writing this two years later). But I simply couldn't accept giving back those original designs the way they were, knowing I could improve them. However, I was very conscious about making any drastic changes, since I wasn't actually asked to do as much as I was eager to. My main concern throughout was not venturing too far from the original design.

Because I was so worried about changing too much, I spent a chunk of time matching colors and font. The font they used ended up being Linux Biolinum G. And although I was tempted to find a cleaner font, I resisted.

I was given a .jpg of the black logo and a .png of the blue logo. Both had a resolution of 2048 x 1536, but were just 72 dpi. I was worried about color and print quality, because I knew this would be a printed design. But this company did not have a designer, and these issues weren't discussed. My plan was to just provide them with every file they could possibly need, which included files for editing and printing.

I packaged the original and updated logos into PDF, SVG, and PNG files.
