The intent of this project was to learn about the process of injection molding, design a chair, and understand the tooling needed to produce it.
I chose to design a chair for children, that would be stackable, to ease storage for when not in use.
Injection mold tooling is extremely expensive, but part cost is cheap, and the output of injection molding is practically infinite.
Injection-molded parts can be made thin to reduce material cost and weight. Often ribs or cross-sections are added for structure, and stability.
