Bolt is Nationwide’s design system for digital products and experiences. The system consists of design tools, working code, and documentation. I worked with Bolt's UX/UI team for six months in which I learned design standards and principles, as well as how to work technically and virtually with a team.
One of my biggest projects during my internship at Nationwide was designing and creating a footer that felt comfortable and that was functional. I had to design it in a way that was responsive for multiple screen sizes, and entrusted to use my front-end web development skills to bring it to life.
I was in charge of creating variations of our local-built components to be uploaded to Bolt's website. I created size variations as you can see for the buttons and the icons, as well as others with color and alignment variations. This involved using GitHub and Visual Studio Code to produce these changes.
Bolt Cakes was a sample website that I designed for Nationwide to show the creativity and flexibility of our components. I had to choose colors and design tiles and displays that matched this fun, celebratory theme. My fellow peers entrusted me to really show the diversity and personalization aspects of our components.
