Our creative final project to re-visualize a series of selected haiku. This was by far my favorite illustration. I was heavily inspired by the cut paper work of Niroot Puttapipat, and was quite happy to notice that the tail-feathers were reminiscent of The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Haiku

Lightning -
Heron's cry
Stabs the darkness

(basho 1644-94)
Weeping...
willows kneel here by the waterside
mingling long green hair
This snowy morning
that black crow I hate so much...
but he's beautiful
