Long Time no update my Behance account. I sign up it in the beginning of 2019 summer, I am not a professional or business photographer, I just want to talk about something on there as a blog on there.
In the past of 2020, I sold my Ricoh GR3 and took Leica M240 to repair center from Hong Kong to Germany. During this three months of non-digital camera period, I got Leica CL (Film) and an Agfa Optima 1535 to maintain my only hobby. From September to November of 2020, I using my film cameras to snap on street every week. Sometimes I am alone, sometimes people who met on Instagram, joined my photo walks. Sometimes I am glad to hear some people love my works and sharing their photographic philosophy to me, sometimes I felt I am frustrated in the career of my photographic life. I love photo taking, I have passion on that, but in some days of autumn, I think that likes a behavior throwing the passion into nothing cave.
Of course I am not a business and professional photographer, I am not able to earn some money from photography, to prove that is good career for me, even my boring full-time job is not related with any camera. Fortunately I am happy to have a paid project a camera company invite me to take some photos this year, even though I am not so satisfied those works because it's so "normal" but caught their customer's eyes. I know that is the answer how to define you are photographer or an artist.
Of course I am not an artist, I just a normal guy, attempt to express something to make sure that I have being in this world, living in this nothingness city.
Let's talk about my first roll shot on Leica Minilux.
In October, I met a friend Peter on Instagram, He lent me a Leica Minilux 40mm f/2.4 to take a little trip in harbor of Hong Kong. That is one of the dream point and shoot camera for me, I once wanted to buy it, before the first film camera Leica Mini3. I gave up my decision because of that is easy to occur "Error 07" problem with the lens cable I red on internet. In addition, the price is not cheap and that is my first experience of film, I worry I will give up so fast. Finally I can try it now, I found it is very beautiful, I can see the light shines on the coating of lens, the system is fast, accurate autofocus and metering, that is still a great point and shoot camera for present.
I still believe that as an artist or photographer, they only use a camera can satisfied their any project. Because camera is just a tool for them to represent their mind. But in reality, I need to constantly switch cameras to maintain my develop passion for photography. In the end of 2020, I bought a Summicron 90mm to try to get a new angle for photography, and my friend sell a Voigtlander 40mm f/1.4 for me to instead of 7 artisans I sought.
In the harbor, I saw many people eating ice-cream, showing their smile as the first time I hold my camera.
In the digital era, Selfie is one of the most important desire in your basic life. People can't satisfied with the eating or drinking hours. They hope their shadows showing on any other people life and obtain "likes" and comment as the food is in their hands.
We do that because we worry we living alone, you worry people never find your photos existing on the sea of the internet. Photography has become the biggest role in human life, even on history, but it is normal and common things. We cannot evaluate the importance of photography as same as the barbarian draws in the cave, It looks like a tool for record or duplicate what happened in moment. Indeed it is happened in a moment of my view.
I don't know why I still doing that things every week, I upset when bad weather on weekend, I will happy when I holding camera on hands with my wife. I wish I can something materials things as holding a little exhibition in 2021. Happy new year my friends, I hope every bad things will be fine in this year, at least we don't need to hold our mask on the face.
