We were given te brief to research the history of typography, codes and languages, analyse communication systems and finally create, iterate and design a new communication system after developing a concept for it.

The concept for my project was "Ewa" a concept based on the fictional language used in the movie avatar, by James Cameron, a language called Na'Vi. 

The language unlike most fictional languages actually exists and can be learnt and spoken like any other real language. It was created by Paul Frommer and was created to be used by the humanoid race on planet pandora, the planet where the Na'vi live.

Before sketching and iterating I had to dive into who the Na'vi are and how they live, their cultures and religion standards and beliefs.

Ewa, the concept for this project, is the guiding force of Pandora and the Na’vi. The Na’vi believe that Eywa acts to keep the ecosystem of Pandora in perfect equilibrium and is seen by the Na'vi as their god. The concept represents the natural flow and shape of this "godlike" entity.
