Number 41 : Tetsuo Shima

It was late 80's and early 90's when i was that teenager trying to create his own comic book under such heavy influence from the Japanese manga of that era, Saint seiya, Hokuto no ken and DBZ were so popular and all over the place ...well until i discovered AKIRA through the manga book Vol 2, and then everything changed, i was amazed by the Narratives and its complexity, story, drawing style, visceral violence, character development...no wonder it still receiving such an international Cult and acclaim from all over the world until today, the mastermind behind Sensei katsuhiro Otomo one of the pioneer of the Cyberpunk culture is a real genius who created all this world all by himself, he also directed the animation movie which is one of the most beautifully crafted anime movie of all time ( that thing was made in the late 80's with a breath-taking quality ).

This piece which depict Tetsuo Shima, one of the Akira main protagonist,
started as a sketch that i decided to turn into a fully illustrated painting, a skill that shamefully did not practice since perhaps a decade or more !I guess it was an attempt to dive back to the early influence as an Artist, a modest attempt also to honour Otomo for such gift to the world.

An attempt using the similar iconic Akira Cover :
