Generation
ADDERALL
Task: Visually communicate the concept of Casey Schwartz’s essay, Generation Adderall, through typography, image, and layout.
Design Vision
Generation Adderall was a project introduced to me in my publication class. We were each assigned an essay that we had to design 5-6 spreads for. In her essay, Casey Schwartz exposes the dangers and reality of the misuse of the drug Adderall. Much of my inspiration for the design was from Casey’s personal story and the physical and mental states that the drug put her through.
Throughout the essay, I focused on having the typography illustrate the story. The pages of type are meant to be difficult to follow, and feel chaotic, just as the author felt throughout her experience with the drug, Adderall. The colors that I used were inspired by the colors that the drug comes in. The disorganized flow of text is consistent throughout the spreads, as well as the photos.
