Design for Activism

Abstract: My writing reflects about animal cruelty in India and around world. This is my attempt to give these beautiful, loving voiceless (animal) creatures voice so they can express the felling they have and trauma they go through because of some inhuman actions. These animals and birds are traded, catch and kept in captives for various purposes like used for entertainment purpose, experiments. At the same time there is another contrast where these animals in wild are held and pet for growing social media selfie craze. How these actions for few social media like takes away the animals life. Few such cases are put on to raise our voice against animal cruelty and take some measures to stop this inhuman activity.
Conclusion
As these traditions re practiced from so long design played an important role to overcome few such situations weather it‟s about unethical practice of drug texting or use of animals for entertainment. Government laws along with science and design have an active participation. Law against animal brutality in 1990 was formed which is formerly known as an act for prevention of cruelty to animal. Inclusion of design models and methods helps to eliminate or minimize the use of living organisms use for testing. This extracted insulin needs to be checked for its purity, efficacy and dose. Use of animals was routine for such checking, but now chromatography techniques are used for checking the purity, efficacy and calculation of dosages of drugs (Freman, 1996) Overall, replacement substantially reduces the use of animals in various processes (Saudi pharmaceutical Journal, July2015).

Few examples of such models are listed below:
“The ability of the lung-on-a-chip device to predict absorption of airborne nanoparticles and mimic the inflammatory response triggered by microbial pathogens provides proof-of-principle for the concept that organs-on-chips could replace many animal studies in the future,” says Donald Ingber, senior author on the study and founding director of Harvard‟s Wyss Institute. (wyss institute, June 24, 2010).
 The use of 3R for Replacement, Reduction and Refinement , (Russell and Burch,1959)
 in vitro (test tube) test methods and models based on human cell and tissue cultures
 computerized patient-drug databases and virtual drug trials
 computer models and simulations
 Stem cell and genetic testing method (Neavs, unknown).
