Background
On September 21, 2020, 48th anniversary of the declaration of the Martial Law by former President and Dictator Ferdinand Marcos, the student publication I belong to decided to post eight facts about the conceptualization, imposition, and the aftermath of Marcos so-called constitutional authoritarianism on the Philippines under Martial Law. I volunteered both as writer and the sole graphic artist for this publication material (pubmat) .
I also suggested to have the Spotify playlist as theme and format for this pubmat since, aside corruption and violence, the Marcos era of 1965 - 1986 was also characterized by disco music, particularly by those made by Filipino musicians. This genre was called Manila Sound, whose jovial and sweet melodies of love and living the young adult bliss greatly contrasted the high numbers of human rights violations committed against Filipinos. Some of the album covers and track title per "track"/information were also homages to albums/tracks from other musicians. The values of time in the elapsed time bar also vary per "track".
