Tewaaraton Lacrosse League | Rebranding

TEWAARATON LACROSSE LEAGUE
Commissioned rebranding project

The Tewaaraton Lacrosse League is a new elite Amateur lacrosse league located in Ontario, Great Lakes region. “Tewaaraton” is the Mohawk and Iroquois’ name for the sport of lacrosse that dates back 1,000s of years. Referred to as “The Creators Game” or the little brother of war, used both for tribal healing and conflict resolution between tribes. They believe lacrosse is a holistic process that binds communities and the nations of the Haudenosaunee (or Iroquois Nation) together. Lacrosse is also considered a “medicine” game because it promotes the health and strength of the Nation, ensuring a continuance of tradition and an understanding of their ways. Initially they were going to be the Tewaaraton Premiere League but decided to go with the TLL instead.

Purpose

TLL provides a competitive, fast paced amateur box lacrosse league that honors the First Nations for players that are 18-22 years old. It creates an elite league by aligning with the NLL and using their rules for game play. The Tewaaraton Lacrosse League has the best players not currently playing in the NLL which helps foster one of the most competitive amateur leagues in the area. They are launching a new elite junior box lacrosse league in the Ontario, Great Lakes region that celebrates the roots of Tewaaraton with the leadership of the First Nations.

Project Goal

Create a premium visual identity that respects the roots & history of Tewaaraton while being modern, classic & iconic. To celebrate “The Creators Game” and honors the 6 nations (Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora) of the Iroquois Nation.
