Rolfe Classic BMW Car Wrap
Competition 2019
This was a competition submission for the "Rolfe Classic BMW Car Wrap Competition 2019" where we were required to design a car wrap for BMW. The concept revolves around the iconic Bauhaus design movement redefined what design could do for society and reflected the utopian ideas of its time.
Concept
An aspect of Bauhaus culture is that they always stay true to their materials, like how it’s raw material is never hidden or coated. Same goes for shapes, they mainly consist of basic shapes. So, I thought to stay true to the cars overall shape, by emphasizing its exterior design with the use of light, shadow and outlines to bring out its overall shape.
Idea
The main idea of the design is to create false perspective where the it creates the illusion where the car looks 2-dimensional.
Colors
For the colors, I simply just implemented the BMW colors, using dark blue for the shadows, white for the highlights, 2 tones of grey acting as the transition colors and black for the outlines. I tried not to use too many colors as it distracts from the initial shape of the car as the idea is too stay true to the car's design.
