FLOW.ER
ALUMINIUM VASE
This flower container breaks through the general shape of a vase.
Superposed layer by layer while expanding laterally, Flow.er embodies the rhythmic image of Nature, which is like the movement of wind and water; its curve of metal depicts the elegant rhythm flowing in space: the movement in the stillness.
The modern style of arrangement with constant repetition of Flow.er contrasts the natural posture of plants.
Moving in rhythm and flowing to both side of Flow.er, it further expands to, blends in and interacts with the environment.
PROTOTYPE
cork sheets and papers were used to simulate the wave shape as the prototype,
to find out the proportion of the thickness and length.
MANUFACTURE
Since the vase is consist of the wave shape aluminium sheet, it is difficult to hide the construction of the assembly.
Finally we used the CNC machine to mill the 1mm slot on the aluminium sheet, and assembly them with 3M™ VHB™ Tape 5952.
