Green Living magazine

Brief: To create a set of 4 magazine covers based around a theme.
For this personal development project, I chose to design covers for a food magazine.
The demographic for the hypothetical magazine, Green Living is 30-49 year olds. They are consumers who have championed the green moment, becoming ever aware of the damage that we have done to our planet. They care about the planet but they are also trend-focused, enjoy socialising, medium-heavy users of social media and regular consumers of news and current affairs. They take pride in their appearance and have reasonable awareness of how others perceive them.
The magazine focuses on how ways to reduce your carbon footprint, especially in the kitchen. It is a combination of gardening and cooking as its real focus is how to successfully grow your own food (no matter where you live) and be a bit more sustainable in the way we feed ourselves.
For the project, I chose to focus on the four seasons and seasonal vegetables which can be grown in your garden. For each issue, I selected a vegetable, created an illustration for it and then design my cover.
Taking into consideration Green Living's target audience, I chose modern, clean designs which would appeal to their trend-focused and social attitude.
The illustrations are minimal, yet still use vibrant colour. The font pairings are Montserrat and Neue Kabel, both sans-serif typefaces for a modern but friendly feel to the magazine.
