The purpose of this project was to identify and implement advanced techniques by using vector gradients to build dimension.

The task for the project was to create a series of two photorealistic illustrations of two flowers for a new line of scented candles that embrace pure, nature fragrances for a candle company. A photograph for reference for each flower was needed to be obtained for each of these. The illustrations were to be done fully in Adobe Illustrator. Enabling these to be vector images.

I chose The Floral Bouquet Line consisted of Fresh Daisy and Spring Tulip. An illustration of each of these flowers would need to be done (only one each).

Unfortunately, I was not able to find a tulip that fit all of my vision for the project. However, I loved the different colors in the yellow and orange tulip and truly felt it would be a great challenge. I therefore had to locate a second tulip and combine the stem from that second tulip to the first one that I initially chose.

Each of the flower types had there own level of ease and difficulty. The Fresh Daisy petals were done fairly quickly, however the center of the flower took quite a bit longer due to the level of detail needed. The Spring Tulip had its own difficulties due to the varying colors that were in this particular tulip.

In order to get a realistic look gradients had to be used in order to make the flowers look as realistic and life-like as possible. Using the Gradient Mesh tool seemed to be the best way to get the most realistic image coloring. Also achieved the different variants of highlighting and shading using variations of opacity.
