"Fame is like a portrait in the way that is is a one sided view of a celebrity." - Joey Davis

Portrait
-a likeness of a person
-a depiction
Portraits have been around as long as art; ever since an artist decided to create a likeness of his/her fellow man. It can be found in every culture and form of art, from cave man drawings to abstract - it is present.
Celebrity
-a famous or well-known person
-condition of being famous
I think that celebrities are magnified and distorted by society - and yet in other ways society contorts itself to fit around them. Creating a celebrity's portrait is illustrating the public's first look at them - it is simply art - without any rumors, speculation, or gossip attached. I hope that these portraits also show that the celebrities of today are just like everyone else, with emotions, and a life.
Fame
-widespread reputation, renown, public eminence.
-common estimation or opinion generally held of a person or thing; reputation.
Often obscure in meaning, understanding, and use, the second definition is probably the best for what I'm using it for. A portrait is only an outward appearance of something which is almost synonymous of the second definition. I think people tend to make others who had fame inhuman, when really they are just like everyone else. The difference: they took their dreams and goals and did something about it.
