Newfoundland Birding Backyard Birds

Newfoundland, Canada, is an extremely popular destination for #BirdWatching enthusiasts. Our #Atlantic coast and abundant #GreenSpaces attract a wide variety of migratory #WildBirds to our region. These are just a small overview of some of the #birds which I have photographed at my bird feeder and in the mature trees in my yard. For those with an interest in #NaturePhotography, #Newfoundland comes highly recommended.
The #AmericanGoldfinch is a colorful, small, #bird. The male's yellow and black colors are deeper and more distinctive during mating season. Females and non-breeding males tend to have a duller appearance.
#AmericanCrow
#BlueJay
#EuropeanStarling perched on a tree branch, its vibrant purple, green, and black colors contrasted sharply by the deep blue sky.
The yellow shafted #NorthernFlickerWoodpecker has a distinctive polkadot pattern on its breast feathers. Males have black markings near its beak (unlike this female that has a clear, ginger brown face). They all have yellow lines along their wingtips and, when in flight, their wing undersurfaces are brilliantly yellow.
#CommonGrackle perched on a tree branch, its olive colored eyes and shiny black feathery coat being reflected by the morning sun.
Male #RedCrossbill perched in a tree, its overlapping beak and blended red, brown, and white colors visible. Females have yellow, instead of red, dominant coloring.
