In Fryslân, The Netherlands, there is a tradition of finding the first "ljip aai" or  "lapwing egg". They are protected birds, so of course the eggs and nests need to be protected as well. 

The tradition used to include taking the eggs and emptying them to put them on display. Nowadays, we leave the eggs and put a flag next to the nest so farmers can spot them easily and work around them :)

So only collect your easter eggs and leave the real ones to become new birds! 💚🐣
