DVB201 Week 9 - Editorial Design 2/ Typographic Hierarchy

Task 1 - Critique and Redesign
I have chosen to work on MECCA's website. As we can see, main titles "N for New Arrivals" and "A for Artistry" has been enlarged in order to catch audiences attention. The size of subtitles are smaller than the main titles by half and are in a lighter colour. The words "Shop now" are in salmon pink colour and with the arrows next to them people can be navigated to different pages. Chat bubble is at the bottom right corner with a vivid orange colour to catch people's attention.

The main purpose of this website is to sell cosmetics. The designer has used a small amount of texts to keep audiences focusing on the pictures. 3 colours are used in the texts, which are black, light grey and salmon pink. A decent amount of space is left between texts and images. Main texts are in black instead of light grey in order to be more outstanding. A neutral colour palette has been used.

Overall i think the colour palette worked well, the colour choices gave people a clean and neat and comfortable feeling. It is good that the designer kept the layout clean, however, i do not really like the design of the website. I think spaces between texts and images can be used better. Besides, the posting of texts and images seems to be a bit off to me. It does not look appealing to me.
Redesigning page in my way
In my redesigned page, i have enlarged all all texts and images so the page do not look as empty as before. For the hierarchical structure, I have moved the texts to the top left corner and to the bottom right corner so as to make the page look balanced. Colours used in the layout remained the same as the original website. Chat bubble has been moved to the top right corner and is in a smaller size so it won't stand out as much as the main texts. I made sure the page would not be overwhelmed even though i enlarged everything.
