[ENG] Allegory of war and sickness
Illustrated according to Cesare Ripa's manual of iconology with some artistic freedoms.
"Under the figure of Bellona the iconologists paint
to war, with the helmet on his head,
messy hair and eyes
twinkling: she is armed with a pike and holds
in her left hand the torch of destruction,
which is one of the attributes of this
plague. War marches on a pile
of arms, to which may also be added
everything that serves to characterize cruelty
and the value, and represent in the background of the
painting a city devoured by flames. "
I added the plague flying, (Rats) to complete the perspective of the world now.

plaga. La Guerra marcha sobre un montón
de armas, á lo cual puede añadirse también
todo lo que sirva para caracterizar la crueldad
y el valor, y representar en el fondo del
cuadro una ciudad devorada por las llamas."
