Heather Drake's profile

NHS Live Project | Healthcare Service Design

For this project we were working in teams alongside with NHS healthcare staff to co-design and collaborate on a proposal for a future healthcare service. Considering 2030, we were designing a blended healthcare model which looks at the Urgent Care Department in the NHS.
Prioritising patient and staff experience, we went on to co-design, develop and deliver our new service to the participants and class.

I chose to be one of the Project Managers for this project as organisation and sticking to the brief is one of my strong points.
The project was split into two phases: a research phase and a service designing phase.
The Research phase was probably where I thrived, making infographics, carrying out co-design sessions and interviews with healthcare professionals to present and deliver a breakdown of areas in where the NHS Urgent Care service could be improved for efficiency.
My team's concept revolved around the pathway navigations within the Urgent care department - and the effects this has the staff's mental wellbeing. The aims of our designed concept was to: reduce staff turnovers, increase quality of care, improve health literacy and improve staff mental wellbeing.

Within this project, I developed my following skills:
- User experience mapping
- Problem identifying and solving
- Project management
- Professional presentations of findings
- Research strategy and analysing

Below I have shared some pages from my PPJ (personal process Journal) for this project - showing my individual input and work process.
