Progression of custom Tank into UDK!

This is my current project that I am currently working on, I have created a tank about a year ago that is what you see below but I have recently come back to it and aim to keep going until i have it finished and in game. The stage I am at below is one of which has many polygons that are just not effective to go into the game engine and since there are too many I needed to slim it down that was my first goal, the renders below are of all the tracks and such individually modelled because when I started to model this I was going for as much detail as possible, but I never quite finished the high detail when I decided I wanted to use it to put in game.
The Tank at this point was around 55k polys and that was extreme for something that is a single object and going into a game engine, I also want to take how effective I can make the model and how I can make it look using a little polys as possible meaning that i get better at optimization of the model and that is something i think is important when you want to create good looking games that might want to focus on other aspects not high poly models other things that can use the recourses of the engine
below is the model of my tank that is around 10k polygons I had to trim it down since it would have been no good for use in the engine and trimming it down was easy enough since they were all on the tracks, but my next step since that I could no use my tank for the modification I am creating at the minute, the reason being is that it was too much of a complicated mesh for me to be able to work out what I am supposed to do for the first time, so I decided to create something simple and new that I can try and work will, as a basis for me to start and get good enough to do the more complex objects
So I have wiped something up that I think can turn into a cool little thing once I get the time to make it look better and stop messing around with the mechanics, it's just a simple vehicle that will do for what I need at the moment and you can see it below, I want to add lots of detail and put some nice slick textures on it but I have to make sure I have the mechanics working first, since this is what the mod is all about. It HAS to be playable.
