BACKGROUND /

LEGO dips its toe in the sea of anime for this epic Ninjago TVC directed by David Mellor and animated by Picnic Studio. To become a master, a ninja must use curiosity to overcome fear!

APPROACH /

We used traditional Japanese instrumentation, predominantly taiko drums, to establish the opening scenes with moody flourishes. As we swim further into the underwater domain the drums pick up and augment the climactic drama with powerful, impactful rhythms. Sound design is heavily influenced by popular anime and classic kung fu films. We combined with cinematic elements to give weight and depth to the action.
