Brief
Create a tote bag design that speaks to environmental sustainability.
Inspiration
I drew inspiration from consumer culture and the visual language of food packaging, specifically plastic waste. Through the incorporation of familiar elements like fruit stickers, my intention was to elevate them from mere litter and garbage to a medium with an environmental message and emotional resonance. The second tote design derives from waste systems and employs imagery of toxic waste to evoke a sense of destruction and chaos..
Concept
These tote designs cleverly subvert visual representations associated with environmental disruptions, such as plastic stickers and toxic waste. By doing so, they become visual communication pieces that effectively promote environmental conservation and evoke empathy through a playful use of visual metaphor, irony, and subversion.
