Symbiotic
This series of images that are in the form of a book is called Symbiotic. I chose this title to reflect the relationship between image and type. My typographic choices are reactions to each photograph and hopefully image and text work in harmony to achieve something different. Firstly, there is a section (spread 1-5) of sepia photography that capture landscape and nature in a more traditional sense – the typeface choice is serif because of this and only features moderate alterations to retain a sombre mood. The second section (spread 6-9) features colour photographs with a sans serif typeface and a more minimalistic direction. The third section (spread 10-13) has a more playful and slightly experimental selection of photographs which is reflected with more typographic alterations – but still a commitment to legibility. The last selection (spread 14-20) features the most experimental and abstract photography in both colour and sepia with the most experimental typography.
