Konnichiwa! (^_^)
As a designer I’ve been influenced by many people and places. I always admire Japanese customs, design, and philosophy, which are often diametrically opposed to Western ideals. Being a designer, the first thing to notice is the flat, minimal design. Not only the old traditions are given importance but Japan is also very advance in technology. This lamp is exactly the combination of both the culture & technological features of Japan.
INSPIRATION
The Lamp is made with an idea that whenever your sit at your workplace you come at a place of worship. Similar to the torii gate which marks a sacred place this task lamp symbolically marks your workspace as a place of worship.
PROTOTYPING
The all metal lamp is made by simple processes, such as laser cutting, bending, welding, sandblasting, and anodizing. The metal sheet is bended precisely at an particular angle as per the form of the lamp and then powder coated with color.
FORM
Understanding the form & structure of the lamp through the tangible prototype. The prototype is very close to the final design with some alteration can be made to increase the aesthetic of the lamp.
