Process of Elimination

The series explores the perception of the whole with the omission of essential elements. Although key parts of the entity are missing, the viewer is able to picture the whole in their minds. By eliminating any background and leaving the remaining on a pristine white backdrop, the idea of exclusion is further emphasized, and the negative space serves as a catalyst for the illusion of the entire form.

I experimented with the degree to which an object can be removed of its fundamental pieces and still retain the idea of entirety. As my concentration progresses, the extent of elimination and absence of the notion of the outline increases. My work involves a play on ways of seeing, embracing both the perceptual and conceptual, as my images become increasingly abstracted due to the process of elimination of parts. The tension between what is there and what is missing is further developed.
