Collage - Social Media Case Study | Computer Graphics
I wanted to address how social media distorts reality and how you see yourself through it
My first draft (top-left) was trying to portray how we define ourselves based on how well we do in Instagram’s algorithm. We end up selling our soul and personality to become simply a binary code and we no longer appreciate life for what it really is, but rather through how many likes we can get.

For my second and final draft (right) I continued this ironic idea of living through our phones, social media, and pretending we are truly enjoying ourselves by depicting an awe-inspiring landscape. However, you cannot really see much from it because of the quote that is on top of it that reads “Social media harms your mental health”.
I chose this picture (which ironically I took myself) because there are people with their backs facing the viewer giving a feeling of being blind-folded, looking at the “show.”

The colorful circus-like graphic tries to highlight the Golden Gate Bridge, but it represents that our lives are set up like a spectacle. I put the word “health” inside a search box to make the viewer question what  exactly “mental health” is, anyway.

This image is fun and colorful to look at, but its meaning goes beyond that of trying to mimic social media. Also, the cherry on the cake is that people will view this poster as a social media post (bottom-left) directly addressing the user with irony and confusing them.
