Project Go To Jail
It's a box. I made it with a sliding lid just because I like how they look, and I really loved the quality and texture of the wood I was able to get. I made this because I am in constant need of more storage, I wanted to make something nice, and I've wanted something to decorate for a while. This was going to hit 2 birds with one stone (theoretically).

I started off by marking the wood with every piece I would have to cut, and what I would keep. The I went over to the bandsaw and cut away the smaller bits I wouldn't need and the table saw for larger bits (ie. the bottom of the box and the lid).
To make the groove in the wall of the box for the lid I didn't have access to the right tool so me and trusty lab assistant Halle did the only thing we as carpentry shop workers would do: we used the table saw to etch grooves into the walls of the box just wide enough for the lid to fit snugly. After that it was only a matter of sanding down rough edges, gluing and nailing all my pieces together, and voila! Box!
