Sketching and coming up with ideas:
We started with an exercise to try and make something out of a box. First by drawing something in the box and then by drawing things around the box. After that I started thinking about what I was going to make. I started by thinking of a company. I chose a comic book store. then I started sketching and that eventually became a space themed comic book store. My idea was to make an alien that would come out of a spaceship. Once I drew the alien I began to design the space ship and once I had both I started sketching the layout for the paper toy. I tried designing other aliens as well but the way the alien connected to the space ship didn't allow for replacing the alien so I ended up not using them.
Test and prototypes:
After I was done sketching the layout I tested it on checkered paper to make sure it was going to fold together. I had to make some smal adjustments but in the end it al came together nicely.
Making it digital:
After I made sure everything was going to work I made the layout digitally in Clipstudiopaint. After I made it digital I printed it out one last time to make sure it was al going to work.
Logo and sketches:
For the logo I tried to make something that looks like it came out of a comic book related to space. I also tried to do a logo in just black and white but I taught the colors suited the paper toy better.
