This piece is an example of a simple, abstracted impression of a figure. It was created using an exaggeration of light and dark, while maintaining value changes throughout the figure. The essence of the figure was captured successfully, while leaving a hint of mystery to his form.

India ink and water were used on watercolor paper for the piece. Ink works much like watercolor in that it can be mixed with water and is a less controllable wet medium; however, it provides darker, more intense values. The process began with the very lightest values and then finished with the darkest values.
