Boundless Senior Show 2021

Boundless Senior Show — Brand Identity


The Boundless Senior Show housed transcending + sensational work from graduating UIW Graphic Design and Fashion Design students. These branding assets were used for a one-night senior show, and were advertised on social media and the school campus to gain exposure. Students wanted a bold identity that can hint at the refreshing work, that can be expected from their perspective when creating.

The concept was to highlight the transition between being a design student and moving into a new real-life chapter with our bold outlooks and takes. We wanted to make the identity to allow the viewers to know we only aim for extraordinary when we are added into a team. We have jumped many obstacles throughout our college career, that being a pandemic, long critiques, abnormal weather changes, and all-nighters. This proves we are an unstoppable bunch. And we, as new-coming designers, have a new outlook and have a great amount of discipline, that is gonna shake up the game.

The design execution hints at our eagerness to get into the real world and show our skills on every level. We, as designers cannot be contained to normality.

Logo System:

Providing different forms of the logo allowed to introduce them slowly to the audience, while still being legible and consistent to the branding system. Having multiple logos in various sizes was a must to resemble us as designers on how we can morph our design abilities for any project and still produce phenomenal work. The line element shows how we can break out of the conventional idea of thinking inside a box and create for new perspectives. 
 
Colors and Animation:

For colors, the design team chose a nice set of complementary colors: a bright orange and a beautiful teal that together showcase the vibrant energy we have to bring to the table. The clean tan was mixed in to create a breather between the two joyful, bubbly colors and creates a nice depth to the energetic color palette. These colors translate perfectly to a beautiful blended gradient.

The animation, where the mesmerizing sway of the gradient was handled, showcases how the logo system effortlessly transforms into one another. This mimics us as to how we can fit any form to solve any problem and keep it moving.

Typography:

With the swaying gradient, the team decided to keep the type neutral to level out the identity's use of bold colors and bold layout. The use of a clean sans-serif achieved legibility and stability for the senior show's written copy. Different font weights were used to emphasize various information throughout the touch-points of the identity.​​​​​​​
Brand Identity Touch-points:

The team created an experimental layout that was executed on multiple touch-point which nodded at the concept of never conforming to the standard and always breaking through conventional ideas. A portion of the type was positioned to bleed off in order to strengthen the connection with the idea of not being able to be contained. Every visual asset has the creative, influential impact that teases the inquisitive viewer to crave more of the Boundless visual identity.
