The Concept
I designed a poster concept for the love song A Dream In A Dream by K-pop boy group NCT's TEN from their debut studio album NCT 2018 Empathy. For this fictitious project, I tried to create a piece that featured both NCT's and TEN'S colors.
Design Process
Graphically, my main objective was to play with mixing typography in a project of this dimension. Given that, I chose to feature sans serif type that went along with NCT's modern overall look and serif type that added a touch of drama and romance, which are some of the subjects explored in this particular song.
The coloring process took me quite a bit to finalize. I knew I wanted to feature both warm and cool tones, but in a design of this sort where I play a lot of lighting and texture, that ended up not being a pleasant option. So, in the end, I decided to make two versions of the poster, both featuring soft gradients.
Illustrative Elements
In addition to the typography, I also incorporated some retro-futuristic elements representative of the group's concept and an abstract pictogram of an orchid made by me. The latter is a flower whose appearance is very prominent in this track's MV and also a symbol of love.
