THE MORNING GUEST
A hungry stray cat breaks into the house in search for food and gets caught in the act, but the result was not something she expected.
Synopsis
In a world where humanoid animals live in houses and animals roam the streets this is a story of a stray cat and a humanoid wolf. The story follows a nameless stray cat who roams the street in search of food. While walking on the boundary wall of a house she comes across an open kitchen window and trespasses in to find something to eat. When she comes across a pet bird inside the kitchen, she excitedly leaps towards it but due to her carelessness she accidentally breaks a flower vase which ends up waking Guddu, a middle-aged humanoid wolf who lives alone in the house along with his pet bird Chichi. The cat, scared due to the appearance of a mean looking big and strong humanoid wolf escapes out of the window before Guddu can react, leaving him to clean up the mess in the kitchen. Later when the cat thinks that the kitchen is empty again, she gathers her courage to venture inside again only to come face to face with Guddu who finished cleaning the floor. Due to the difference in their strength and species and being the one in the wrong for trespassing and attempting theft, the cat becomes scared stiff waiting for her punishment. But she is in for a surprise as despite his strong and mean appearance Guddu is a kind and gentle fellow with a soft spot for small and cute animals.
Premise
The story is placed in a world where humans does not exist. The dominant species are that of Humanoid Animals who initially have the appearance of the animal species they are affiliated to but can change their forms to that of a human. They serve an active role in the society and are superior to regular animals due to their enhanced senses and better intellect. As humans they live in houses while the animals around them live as wild animals, pet animals or stray animals. The main focus in the story is given to stray animals with the main character being a stray cat who is struggling to find food. The story portrays the characteristics of a cat and their behavior in certain situations. It shows cats as curious yet cautious creature. A cat’s curiosity comes in many forms, from trying to wedge themselves into small places, to watching every move of people around them, to observing their worlds from a high vantage point. These behaviours are a direct reflection of their hunting instincts, as well as those that have helped them escape danger. The story also deals with the skittish nature of cats. Shy or fearful behaviour is most often caused by negative associations made in their early life. If a cat doesn’t interact with people often or experiences abuse or trauma, later, he or she may be afraid to trust humans and become skittish. Depiction of human and cat relationship along with the relation of canine and feline families is also touched upon.
