A series of digital paintings on Hindustani Classical musicians I admire
Music has played a very important role in my life. My father gifted a violin to me when I was 12 years old and I started my musical journey in Carnatic music. I found a perfect teacher, Smt Mohana Nagarajan after a long search for a guru. More than a musician, she was a great human being and I found a mental and emotional connection towards her being her student for more than 5 years. Her passing away a few years ago creating a void in my music journey, eventually leading me to discontinue the instrument.
However, after chancing upon the music of many Hindustani Classical Musicians like Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur, Ustad Amir Khan, Pandit Kumar Gandharv, my interest has relatively shifted towards Hindustani Classical music and have been, presently learning the violin under Ranjan Kumar Beura from Orissa. Apart from Violin, I am intrigued by the sounds of many instruments like the Sitar, Sarangi, Sarod, Rudra Veena and many others. My fascination towards the sound and instrument of Sarangi has become such that I bought the instrument from Ahmedabad and has become part of my collection; though I wish to learn the Sarangi, I haven't found the right guru yet. Music has in fact become part of my work process and I enjoy purely classical music while I am in the process of working on my painting as it allows me to dwell and contemplate on the subject that I am working on. Below are some of the vocalists and instrumentalists whom I constantly follow and admire.
