This was the split complementary artwork and I decided to use the blue for the butterfly so that it would stand out against the green and the flower.
This being the complementary piece I decided to make the flower the piece that had more variety in tones. This way your eye would be drawn there and then up to the butterfly.
For the monochrome piece I decided to keep with the flower as the more colorful part of the piece. This way it would look more natural and the butterfly and the flower would be colors that could occur in nature.
Lastly for the tetrad piece I wanted to be more creative on how I would illustrate the butterfly. So I went with more of a stained glass look for the wings of the butterfly.
