Pierrel Dark Bayou Rum

Pierrel Dark Bayou Rum | Liquor Bottle Design
Develop and create a liquor bottle with custom Victorian lettering.
I built this project around the story of my great great grandfather, Anthony Sebastian Pierrel, who was one of the last steamboat captains on Bayou Courtableau in Washington, Louisiana. He was also an inventor who created and patented a pan for making molasses that is still used today.
I sketched his name to mimic the lapping waves as a boat glides across the bayou, and incorporated a traditional Cajun red with copper foiling. I also included his real patent at the base of the label, with swampy illustrations that call to what he would’ve seen while transporting goods down the bayou.
Pierrel Dark Bayou Rum keeps Bayou Courtableau’s memory alive and brings back the spirit of the steamboat era to historic Washington, Louisiana. It is produced with locally grown sugar cane and brewed with Mister Sebe’s
old-fashioned syrup patent. A taste of the historic south that has since disappeared.
